Northfield Police Chief Robert James Graduated FBI Academy

Chief Robert James successfully completed 10 vigorous and demanding weeks of the FBI’s 238th Session of National Academy on September 18th in Quantico, Virginia.

The FBI National Academy is a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders that serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide.

Its mission is “to support, promote, and enhance the personal and professional development of law enforcement leaders by preparing them for complex, dynamic, and contemporary challenges through innovative techniques, facilitating excellence in education and research, and forging partnerships throughout the world.”

As stated in The Sentinel, Chief James applied to the elite program approximately four years ago and didn’t get the acceptance call until earlier this year. Each year, the academy receives 600 applications with only about 250 being accepted. This year, our very own Police Chief was one of them!

Congratulations Chief James!

Dennis Foreman Foundation Inaugural Golf Outing

During the past decade, the FOREMAN family name has become synonymous with service to the community. Both Dennis and Sue have coached our boys on the basketball courts of Northfield Community School and on the fields of Birch Grove Park. Their lessons taught of service and leadership have been well learned by their son Dennis who is always willing to assist with any practice or work with his teammates for the betterment of others. His infectious smile and polite manners make him a joy to be around.

In the spring of this year, Dennis and Sue noticed that their eldest son Dennis was uncharacteristically tired. Early tests seemed to indicate Lymes Disease; however, there was little noticeable improvement after the normal course of treatment was completed. The additional test that followed revealed a stage two, Wilms Tumor on one of Dennis’ kidneys. This tumor has required the successful removal of one of Dennis’s kidneys and requires ongoing chemotherapy treatments.

The DENNIS FOREMAN FOUNDATION has been established to assist the family with expenses associated with Dennis’ treatments. We hope you will consider participating in this event by playing golf, attending dinner, providing a gift for raffle or sponsoring a part of the event. Any level of contribution is greatly appreciated.
